Zeno of Citium born 335 B.C. and died 262 B.C..

Greek founder 300 B.C. of Stoic philosophy.

Pantheistic and materialist, it found happiness in acceptance of the laws of

the universe, advocating the brotherhood of man and condemning slavery.

Stoicism underlay Greek and Roman revolutionary movements 3rd-2nd

centuries B.C., but by the 1st century had been adopted by the Roman

ruling class.
