Plato

Plato's doctrine is that every human soul has before birth known the moral and

philosophical truth, and that the moral differences between one man and another

during this life are attributable to differences in degree of the power of recollection

of what we have all once known and understood.

Happiness of the man is completed by a consideration of the life after death.

Socrates describes a vision of the life after death in the story of Er, the son of

Armenius.
